DETROIT –The General Motors Foundation announced today a $100,000 grant to

American Red Cross to aid in emergency relief efforts in Texas after flooding and

tornadoes have devastated the region.

“By partnering with the American Red Cross, we’re hoping that some measure of

comfort is extended during this difficult time,” said Vivian Pickard, president of the

ones and all who have been touched by this natural disaster.”

The GM Foundation has also created donation portals for GM employees who wish

to designate funding to Texas or Oklahoma American Red Cross Disaster Relief

Since 2004, the GM Foundation has provided approximately $8.6 million to global

disaster relief efforts. Included in this amount is $7.5 million in financial support to

the Red Cross through the Disaster Responder Program to help communities

prepare and respond in the event of emergency situations.

Additionally, GM employees across the country have donated hundreds of volunteer

hours collecting and distributing emergency supplies and providing manpower

where needed.

Most recently, the GM Foundation supported American Red Cross and World Food

Program USA with $100,000 to aid Nepal earthquake relief efforts.
